Alex Roe thanks fans after Glór Tíre final
Clara singer Alex Roe was pipped at the post in the final of this year's TG4's Glór Tíre country music talent competition, which was broadcast live on Tuesday night.
Alex was one of four finalists competing in the popular event at the The Quays, Galway, albeit without a live audience. The winner was Paschal McAnenly.
Alex, who was mentored by Trudi Lalor, praised his supporters and family for their backing since the competition began, last November.
"I'm so, so happy to have even got to the Glór Tíre final and a big, big congratulations to Paschal. I'm so, so delighted for him.
"A big thank you as well to everyone who has got behind me, all my friends, my family and all my supporters, everybody. It means so much to me."
Alex vowed: "This is not the last you'll hear from me. Hopefully we can see everybody together again soon in some dance hall."
He also thanked his mentor Trudi Lalor, who, he said, had been "absolutely incredible throughout this journey".
Recording for this season's show started in November of last year and was due to be competed in the spring but was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
