Moate All Whites edged out Tang to win the Westmeath intermediate football title - in their first ever final at the grade last Saturday.
Paul Sheridan scored the only goal of the game as Moate lifted the Peter Geraghty Cup by virtue of a 1-10 to 0-11 victory at TEG Cusack Park.
Tang were reduced to 14 men early in the second half and this made their task even more difficult.
Robbie Gorman was among the stars for Moate who will compete in the top tier of Westmeath club football in 2021.
It was an poignant victory for Moate, with the passing of club stalwart Seamus McLoughlin just a day before the final.
Tang were competing in their first intermediate final since 2002 and with their last title coming in 1993, they must wait for another year at least.
Earlier on Saturday, Tubberclair bounced back up to the intermediate ranks at the first time of asking, when they defeated the second team of St Loman's Mullingar in the junior final.
Conor Elliott scored five points for the Glasson men as they clinched victory by 0-17 to 1-10. The only goal of the game was scored by Conan O’Hara of St Loman's, but Martin McCabe's side finished strongly to clinch victory.
Meanwhile, Moate were unable to make it a weekend double when their minor team was defeated by Killucan in the Westmeath U-17 Division FC final yesterday (Sunday). Killucan claimed victory by 4-6 to 0-11 at TEG Cusack Park.
St Loman's Mullingar eventually overcame Tyrrellspass after extra-time in the senior final, later in the afternoon.
Defeat was a particularly bitter pill for Tyrrellspass to swallow as they looked set for victory in the closing moments of regulation time. It was the fourth final defeat in eight years for Tyrrellspass, with all those defeats coming at the hands of St Loman's.
Westmeath star and St Loman's captain John Heslin lifted the Flanagan Cup following his side's 0-17 to 2-9 victory (AET) yesterday.
