Double for Gordon Elliott at Roscommon
Gordon Elliott enjoyed a double on the National Hunt card in Roscommon on Sunday
The Meath trainer's winners book-ended the meeting, with Longclaw taking the opener, the Railway Bar 3-Y-O Maiden Hurdle, whilst Papal Lodge won the closing bumper, the Ireland's Hidden Heartlands INH Flat Race.
Keith Donoghue was in the saddle in the opening winner, a 15/2 shot, which was impressive in a six length victory over favourite Jeff Kidder from the Noel Meade stable.
Jamie Codd steered home Papal Lodge in the bumper, for a half length win ahead of 80/1 shot Meet and Greet with odds on favourite Willie Mullins's Wearapinkribbon only third.
In fact only one winner obliged in the seven-raced card and that was in the Irish Stallion EBF Beginners Chase, which had the biggest prize pot of the day.
Here Declan Queally's Western Victory had a comfortable 13 length win at odds of 1/3.
Elsewhere, Jacksons Gold sprung a surprise at 33/1 in the 2m 4f Dysart Maiden Hurdle for jockey Ian Power, helped by the departure at the second last of leader Broomfields Jeremy.
William of Wykeham was an impressive winner of the Class Grass Handicap Hurdle, winning under Philip Enright.
The winner had been challenging leader Cahirdown Boy in the run in to the last hurdle, before that horse parted company with rider Ryan Treacy.
Fresh from a win at the Midlands National in Kilbeggan in July, Freewheelin Dylan stepped back to the smaller obstacles in this contest but also came a cropper, at the second last hurdle.
9/1 shot Got Trumped produced a gritty performance to hold off for Jessica Harrington to hold off the Joseph O'Brien-trained Konitho by a short head in the Boyle Beginners Chase.
And Wareeedy was the winner of the Castlerea Handicap Chase for jockey Denis O'Regan.
