Westmeath’s Covid-19 case count increases in latest figures
The overall number of Covid-19 coronavirus cases in Westmeath has increased by two, according to figures published by the Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) this evening.
The figures – up to date as of Friday June 19 – show that the overall count for Westmeath is now at 672. The total had stood at 670 since Wednesday June 3.
It brings to an end a 15-day run without a new COVID-19 case - a spell that was at the time the longest in the country.
It is not clear if these are new cases, or cases reassigned from other counties following HPSC efforts to validate data and review addresses.
The number of cases in Roscommon remains static at 344.
This evening, the HPSC reported that it has been notified of six new Covid-19 cases in the State, and no new deaths. There have now been a total of 25,379 confirmed cases in Ireland, and 1,715 deaths.
Earlier today, the Minister for Health, Simon Harris, urged the public to maintain vigilance and to follow public health advice.
The warning came after nine of 22 confirmed cases announced yesterday were revealed to have been diagnosed in people under the age of 35.
