DJ to host Athlone fundraising music event
A well-known local DJ is to host a special music event in Athlone this Sunday to raise funds for South Westmeath Hospice.
Aidan Higgins has arranged the event on this Sunday, May 17, from 4-6pm, outside his home in Mitchell’s Terrace on the westside of Athlone.
A GoFundMe page, Jukeboxjive, has also been established to help raise funds for the local hospice.
Higgins who runs Infinity Multimedia and Events and Infinity Wedding Services, has been involved in the local music scene for many years.
As well as playing a DJ set, he will be joined by two surprise guest artists for the event, which has been approved by Gardai, once social distancing rules are being adhered to, and is being run in association with the hospice committee.
Aidan explained that he had been approached by neighbours to provide some entertainment in the midst of these tough times and he agreed to do so on the basis that it would act as a fundraiser for charity.
The event has been backed by country singers Olivia Douglas, TR Dallas and John Molloy who have all voiced video messages of support, which can be seen on the GoFundMe page.
Aidan also thanked local businesses for their support for the event, both in promoting the event and in supplying spot prizes for a raffle.
He stressed that the live music was only for people in the general local area, in line with current restrictions. However, the music event will be live streamed on the Infinity Multimedia Facebook page for others.
The GoFundMe page is here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/8w4aa while those who wish to donate in person can make contact with any of the residents of Mitchell’s Terrace in Athlone.
