Two more local businesses to close to public

Two more significant local businesses have made major announcements in the last few hours in response to the national Coronavirus outbreak.

The popular and long-running Shamrock Lodge Hotel this morning (Sunday) announced it is to close to the public tonight, from 9pm until further notice.

"We are keeping a close eye on developments from the HSE and believe this decision is in the best interests of our customers.

"Our bar and food offerings will be closed to the public from 9pm this evening.
The hotel said its accommodation would remain open in special cases.
"In order to provide some level of service to those in need, we are still offering take away food for collection from 12pm-9pm Monday to Sunday.

"Our reception will remain open and we welcome any questions about

In the statement from Paddy and Alan McCaul, the hotel said: "We wish everyone all the very best and hope to see you all safe and well in the coming weeks."

Meanwhile the IMC Cinema Group said all its cinemas in the Republic including Athlone will close from March 16 (Monday) until March 29.
