Another Athlone outlet closes its doors
Cosmetics brand Inglot has shut its doors in Athlone Towncentre, the latest high profile casualty to disappear from the town's retail landscape.
On Monday, closed signs hung in the window as staff could be seen clearing out stock from the shop which opened with massive fanfare and queues galore back in April, 2017.
It's another big name closure in a matter of weeks in the popular shopping centre - coming hot on the heels of the shock departure of UK fashion outlet Warehouse, and Selected Homme, the popular menswear brand, just a few doors away from Inglot.
It's certainly a challenging time for on-street retailers too as another prominent shop in Athlone has also announced it will also close up in the coming days.
Wireless Fix My I will shut its branch at 10 Sean Costello Street, Athlone on March 10.
“We would like to sincerely thank all our Athlone patrons for the custom over the years. The decision to close this branch has not come lightly, and we apologise for any inconvenience caused,” a notice pinned on the phone and computer shop door reads.
“All sales and repair services will resume in our Tullamore branch on Patrick Street, opposite the Credit Union, where you find the same deals and excellent quality of service.”
In addition, the Chameleon cafe/bistro which specialised in Polish food in Sean Costello Street, beside the Singer outlet, shut up shop too in recent weeks.
A post on the cafe's Facebook page thanked their customers for their support over the years.
“We met many wonderful and friendly people along the way, for which we are thankful.
“We’d like to thank all of our customers for the wonderful support over the years,” the post on social media, announcing their closure, ended.
