Launching the Westmeath Independent WhatsApp Club
Westmeath Independent is launching a new WhatsApp Club for readers, which will bring breaking news, updates, exclusive competitions and special offers to your smartphone.
The new WhatsApp service will work in conjunction with our existing social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter.
The WhatsApp service will mean you will receive news updates and can reply directly – and privately – to us. Your phone number and any reply will be visible only to us.
Members of the Westmeath Independent WhatsApp Club will receive a message each day with the top stories of the day. We may also occasionally send alerts to major breaking news items in this area and a summary of our weekly print edition.
Members of the WhatsApp Club will also be eligible for exclusive prizes and competitions.
Here's how to join
1. Download WhatsApp to your smartphone and ensure notifications are switched on.
2. Save our WhatsApp number (086) 6064918 in your phone as Westmeath Independent. You must add Westmeath Independent as a contact to be able to receive messages into your WhatsApp inbox.
3. Send us a WhatsApp message with your name with the word 'JOIN' to (086) 6064918
4. We will add you to one of our broadcast lists and you will start receiving messages when the new group is ready for launch.
