40 years volunteering with local charity
Athlone’s Michael Duffy may be an octogenerian, but age hasn’t stopped him working with a number of local voluntary groups including most notably the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind.
And earlier this month, he received an award for his outstanding dedication of 40 years fundraising for the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind (IGDB) at their National Conference in the Connacht Hotel, Galway last Saturday night.
Michael is still an active member of the Athlone branch of IGDB.
In 2008, the Bonavalley resident was honoured for his role with the charity witth an Athlone People of the year Award.
He is pictured here with Pat Burke (Chairman IGDB), Frank Downes (IGDB Galway Chairman), Deputy Mayor of Galway Cllr. Donal Lyons, Michael Duffy (Athlone IGDB), Tim O’Mahony, (CEO IGDB) and IGDB Ambassador dogs Pixie, Ben, Twinkle and Bradley.
