Monksland to host Christmas market and turning on of lights

The annual Christmas tree lighting and market in Monksland will take place this Sunday (December 1). 

Organised by the Monksland Town Team, the festive event will be held from 2pm to 6pm on Sunday in the SuperValu car park. 

It's the third annual Christmas market for the area and, in addition to the lovely market stalls, there will be a switching on of the Christmas tree lights by the winners of a poster competition for local schoolchildren. 

Mrs Claus and Santa's Elves will also be present, and music and face painting are planned. 

Thanfully it looks like the weather conditions will cooperate for the event, with Met Eireann currently forecasting a cool and dry afternoon.
