All Ireland glory for local choral group

Athlone Acappella have regained their title as best National Female Chorus at the Irish Association of Barbershop Singers Convention in Killarney.

The chorus of 47 ladies travelled to the INEC at The Gleneagle Hotel on Friday last to compete with six other choruses from all over the country.

Under the direction of David Farmer, who has been at the helm of this group for many years, the ladies managed to secure gold in the National Female Chorus section.

Athlone Acappella have won this national title on 3 occasions before. A fantastic weekend of singing and fun was had by all and winning was the icing on the cake for this lively bunch of songsters. Their next gig is happening in Our Lady's Bower secondary school for the schools arts week event.
