Exams body in Athlone confirms new date for Junior Cert results
The Athlone-based State Examinations Commission has confirmed that this year's Junior Certificate results will be released in October - more than three weeks later than originally anticipated.
Students had originally expected their results on Wednesday next, September 11, but now they won't find out how they got on until Friday, October 4.
The State Examinations Commission said that when the Leaving Certificate Appeals timeframe was reconfigured for this year's exams it notified schools that there would be an impact on the issue date for the Junior Cycle results.
In the Commission's circular letter, which accompanied the 2019 examination timetables issued last February, it advised schools that, “As a result of the need to prioritise activities associated with the Leaving Certificate appeals, the results of the 2019 Junior Cycle examinations are due for issue to schools in late September.”
The October date has now been announced, and it means the release of the results will change from a Wednesday to a Friday this year.
The commission said its immediate priority was to meet its deadline of week ending September 20 for the issuing the results of the Leaving Certificate appeals.
The commission is based at the Department of Education premises in Cornamaddy, Athlone.
