Time for the umbrellas again.

Wet weather expected as yellow warning in place

A yellow weather warning for heavy overnight rain is in place for Westmeath.

Met Eireann is predicting heavy rain across all of Munster and Leinster on Thursday night into early Friday morning.

Accumulations of 25 to 40mm will occur over a relatively short time period. Spot flooding is likely.

The weather warning is in place from 7pm on Thursday evening to 7am Friday morning.

The worst spell of rain in the Athlone region is expected from 11pm Thursday to 1am Friday.

There'll be further showers on Friday night, though they won't be as widespread or as heavy as during the day. Lowest temperatures of 13 or 14 degrees.

There will be another prolonged period of rain from 6pm Saturday to midnight.

Sunday will be a cooler, fresher day but the nicer day of the two this weekend across most parts. Lingering overnight rain will clear in eastern counties and most areas will enjoy a mostly dry day with just well scattered showers. Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees with light or moderate northwest breezes.
