Midlands family claims Lotto million
A family syndicate from the Midlands has claimed a cool million euros, after scooping the top prize on last Saturday's Lotto Plus 1 draw.
The winners, who chose not to be identified, visited the National Lottery Winner’s Room yesterday (Tuesday) to claim the prize and said they have been “living a dream” since they learned of the win.
“I cannot believe it. I’m shaking,” a spokesperson for the midland family said, while holding up a visibly trembling arm. “Since I checked the ticket on Saturday night we’ve all been living a dream. It really is a dream come true. We are just ordinary working people – this is the last thing I expected life to throw at us! You buy your Lotto ticket but you never truly believe – ‘I’m going to win a million quid’. It’s crazy”.
The family bought their Lotto ticket at Spar Maxol store and service station on Church Road, Tullamore, County Offaly. This was the sixth Lotto Plus 1 top prize win of €1 million in 2019.
The winners from the Midlands had no plans on what exactly they were going to do with their cash and said: “We’re all trying to get our heads around this news. For sure we will do all the sensible things like pay bills and then we’ll see what happens!”
It was a Tuesday to remember at National Lottery HQ in Dublin as three major prizes were claimed, totalling a massive €11,248,920.
The other prizes claimed yesterday consisted of a Lotto jackpot worth €6,197,310, won last month by a family syndicate from County Meath, and a €4,051,610 Lotto jackpot prize won on last weekend’s Lotto draw (Saturday June 8) by a man from Galway.
