Great sadness at death of Athlone music legend

Funeral arrangements have been announced for one of Athlone's best-known entertainers, Tony Martin, who passed away peacefully in the early hours of this morning (Thursday, January 24).

Tony, from Lucas Court, was known far and wide as a supreme entertainer, and was a very accomplished musician and singer who entertained countless generations in Athlone and across the Midlands. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Phil.

The remains of the late Tony Martin will repose at Flynn's Funeral Home, The Strand, Athlone tomorrow evening, Friday, January 25, from 4.00pm with removal at 5.30pm (via his residence) to the church of Our Lady Queen of Peace, Coosan arriving at 6.00pm.

Requiem Mass on Saturday (January 26) at 12.30pm with burial afterwards in Coosan cemetery.
