More water restrictions for Athlone

THERE are further water restrictions on the way for householders in Athlone.

Irish Water wishes to advise customers in Athlone and the surrounding areas that following a mechanical failure at the Athlone Water Treatment Plant earlier this week, a water outage will be required in Athlone and surrounding areas from 10pm tonight, Monday, until 6am tomorrow, Tuesday. 

The outage will affect approximately 8,000 customers on the east side of Athlone Town, Baylin, Mount Temple, Ories, Garrycastle, Dublin Road, Ardnaglug, Fardrum, Moydrum, Blyry, Killyon Hill, Bonavalley and surrounds. 

Water production at the treatment plant has recommenced; however reservoir levels remain low and the water restriction is necessary to ensure that there is an adequate quantity of treated to supply industries, schools, residences and commercial activities during business hours.
