Major cannabis seizure in Athlone

Gardai have seized cannabis with a street value of over €20,000 in Athlone Accommodation Centre, Lissywollen.
The discovery of a kilo of cannabis herb was made following a search of a caravan at the asylum centre on Wednesday afternoon (September 26).
A young man was subsequently arrested and brought to Athlone Garda Station for questioning where he was later charged with possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis for sale or supply.
He will appear in Mullingar District Court today in connection with the seizure.

This is the second major seizure of drugs at the centre in recent weeks.
