Gardai renew appeal for witnesses to fatal accident in Athlone
Gardai have renewed an appeal for witnesses to the collision which claimed the life of 18-year-old Jordan Murphy in Athlone on Tuesday morning.
Jordan, a student who was starting second year in Athlone IT, was walking at the entrance to the Valleycourt estate in Bonavalley when he was hit by a van at approximately 9.20am.
He was taken to Midland Regional Hospital, Tullamore, but was later pronounced dead. The driver of the van was uninjured.
In a statement issued just after noon today (Thursday) the Garda press office renewed its appeal for witnesses to come forward.
In particular the Gardai are keen to speak to the driver of a white rigid truck with a tail lift who may have seen the accident happening.
