Westmeath votes strongly in favour of 8th repeal
By an overwhelming 58.28% to 40.29% Westmeath has voted in favour of the removal of the eight amendment.
Deeply disappointed prolife campaigners left the count centre after completion of the tally counts, and the full tally was coordinated by a Sinn Féin team who have just released the figures.
A full count is expected at 4pm.
There were few boxes where the No votes surpassed the Yeses.
At the Boys NS Fair Green Athlone, there was one No box , with the rest all Yes. That was the only No box in Athlone.
Box 104 at Presentation Senior School in Mullingar voted No, and another Mullingar box that voted No was 67 at ETNS, and also box 84 in Tyrrellspass; the Castletown Geoghegan and Ballinagore votes were No, also box 78 in Kilbeggan.
One box in Taughmon and the box in Castletown Finea are also No.
There were No votes in Milltown NS and in Box 42 in Ballymore.
