Mount Temple woman taking part in Miss Ireland final tomorrow night

Mount Temple woman Eva Dunning will take part in Miss Ireland in Dublin this Friday night.

The 20-year-old law student is the daughter of PJ and Ciara Dunning and is hoping taking part in Miss Ireland will help her to promote two charities she is involved with.
Eva found out two weeks ago that she had been crowned Miss Westmeath and said this week that while she entered the competition in March, she didn't tell anyone about it as she was afraid she wouldn't make it to the final.

“I thought it would be a great chance to do some charity work. I'm involved with two charities – Mental Health Ireland, where I'm social media ambassador, and Burren Chernobyl and next year I'm planning to go to Belarus. I thought getting involved with this (Miss Ireland) would give me a better platform for my charity work,” said Eva.

“Miss Ireland is heavily involved with charities. This year's chosen charity is the Laura Lynn Foundation. I'm quite late into the competition, but a lot of the girls have done fundraisers over this Summer,” she added.

Eva said she has never taken part in a competition like this before, but she did a lot of dancing when she was younger and enjoyed being on stage.

Eva takes part in Miss Ireland tomorrow night, with interviews taking place today. For the final tomorrow, contestants will wear five different outfits and the top 15 finalists will then be interviewed on stage before Miss Ireland is crowned.
Speaking to the Westmeath Independent ahead of the final, Eva said: “I'm really excited. This experience has been really good for my confidence. I'm not nervous at all, just excited.”
