Man arrested after drugs and cash seized

A 33-year-old man was arrested yesterday (Wednesday) evening following the seizure of over €7,000 in cash and a small amount of cannabis resin.

The man was arrested following a search on a house in the Willow Park area at 7pm. The search was carried out under warrant by members of the Athlone Crime and Drug unit.

A total of €7,300 in cash, a small amount of cannabis resin and other drug paraphernalia were seized during the search.

The man was arrested and detained for questioning under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at Athlone Garda Station.

He was later released and is due to face charges of possession of drugs and possession of drugs for sale or supply at Athlone District Court next month.
