Irish Water work to repair Moate burst water main

 

A major traffic management plan is currently in operation in Moate and surrounding areas today (Friday) as Irish Water work to repair a burst water main which has left large areas of South Westmeath without a water supply since early morning.

Many businesses and householders have been badly affected by the lack of water, with the Tuar Ard Coffee Shop in Moate, having to close its doors to customers and many other establishments being severely inconvenienced due to the breakdown in their water supply.

Irish Water have confirmed that all repairs are expected to be completed by 4pm today, but they add that it make take “a number of hours” before the water supply network recharges and all customers have their full supply restored.

Irish Water have apologised to all their customers for the inconvenience caused, and have thanked them for their patience while staff work to repair the burst water main.

A large swathe of South Westmeath is affected by the burst pipe, including Ballynacarrigy, Moyvore Village, Moyvoughly, Moate Town, Piercefield, Ballyhug, Ballyhoreen, Grange, Irishtown, Curraghboy, Churchtown, Emper, Templepatrick, Kileenboy, Ballinlig, Dunlom, Mullenmeehan, Raheen, Knockdomny, Ballymore Village and a number of smaller outlying areas.
