RTE's Eileen Dunne to compere Ballymore concert
RTE newsreader Eileen Dunne is coming to Ballymore this Friday night to compere the concert featuring singers Emmett Cahill and Edel Martin at the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer in Ballymore.
The concert is in aid of parish funds, and is the first such event to have been organised for the church.
Emmet Cahill is a Cavan-born singer who grew up in Knockdrin, just outside Mullingar, but is now based in the US where he performs both as a solo artist and as a member of the “Celtic Thunder” tenors group.
Home on a short break, Mr Cahill goes onstage at Ballymore at 8pm – and one week later he will be performing in Canada and then in Chicago.
Edel Martin is a Ballymore-born singer who has an All-Ireland and a number of Leinster singing titles under her belt with Scór. She is much in demand at community events around Westmeath.
Eileen Dunne is, of course, one of the best-known faces on RTE – and her roots go back to Delvin. The popular newsreader is a second cousin of Fr Oliver Devine, PP of Ballymore, Boher and Drumraney – and indeed, Emmet Cahill too is a cousin of Fr Devine’s.
Tickets for the event cost €20, and for students/OAPs, €15, and are available from Netta Murphy on 087 6339997 and Theresa Cunningham on 087 6499965.
