€6m lotto win in Athlone

Someone in Athlone woke up over €6.1m richer after sharing in last night's bumper National Lottery jackpot.

The winning ticket was sold in Topaz Service Station on the Dublin Road in Athlone.

It was a Quick Pick ticket and the winning numbers were 3, 7, 17, 21, 22 and 28.

The jackpot of over €12.3m was shared with another lucky winner who bought their tickets in Mickey Joe's Country Store, Umlagh, Carrigart in Donegal.

A delighted Paula Keegan, store manager with Topaz Service Station, Dublin Road, Athlone, said they are thrilled to have sold the winning Quick Pick.  “This is the first time we have sold such a large winning ticket. This is a busy shop with lots of passing trade so while we would love if the winner was a local it is a possibility that the ticket was purchased by someone passing through.”
