Setback for local jockey as he suffers broken pelvis
Athlone jockey Kielan Woods suffered an injury setback when he broke his pelvis in a fall during a race in Huntingdon, England, earlier this week.
He was partnering the Shaun Lycett-trained Bare Necessities in the two-mile handicap hurdle when the fall occurred at the second flight.
The 24-year-old later tweeted: 'Unfortunately I broke my pelvis yesterday. Absolutely gutted, but it could be a lot worse! Thanks very much for the well messages!'
The injury ends Kielan's season and he is currently recovering in hospital.
This morning, he tweeted that he was following the action at Aintree from his bed in Addenbrooke Hospital in Cambridge.
