Roscommon star Senan Kilbride hangs up inter-county boots

Senan Kilbride has informed Roscommon GAA of his intention to retire from inter-county football.

The talented St Brigid's attacker has been a regular on the Roscommon senior football team since he made his championship debut back in 2008 against Galway.

A winner of a Connacht SFC medal with Roscommon in 2010, Kilbride was regarded as one of the best forwards in the game.

Kilbride has won several Roscommon SFC medals with St Brigid's, his latest coming this year.

In 2013, Senan played a key role, along with his brother Ian, in helping St Brigid’s to win the All-Ireland senior club championship title. The Kiltoom side defeated Ballymun Kickhams of Dublin in the final to become the first Roscommon club to win this coveted crown.

In 2015, Senan collected the Opel Player of the Month award for April in football for his performances in the Roscommon jersey. Senan was a leading performer as the Rossies earned promotion from Division 2 of the Allianz Football League and defeated Down in the 2015 Division 2 final.

Roscommon GAA County Board Chairman Seamus Sweeney said: “On behalf of Roscommon GAA people everywhere, I would like to thank Senan for his tremendous service to Roscommon GAA and I know he’ll continue the great work in St Brigid’s and through his work as a primary school teacher. Well done Senan and thanks for the memories.'
