Aldi to add 25 jobs in Midlands as part of recruitment drive
The Aldi supermarket chain has today announced that it will be adding 25 jobs across its stores in Westmeath, Longford, Laois and Offaly as part of a nationwide recruitment drive.
It stated that in-store roles were now available for Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, Store Assistant and Stock Assistant positions.
The German chain now operates 126 stores in Ireland, including eight across counties Westmeath, Longford, Laois and Offaly.
It is seeking to fill more than 400 positions nationwide as part of the current recruitment drive.
'We are seeking motivated, enthusiastic and hardworking individuals to join the Aldi team and contribute to our continued success in Ireland,' said Brian O’Shea, Aldi’s Personnel Development Director.
'We need great people to join our business to help us in continuing to deliver the highest level of customer service that our customers have come to expect.”
Mr O’Shea added: “Aldi values its employees, who come from a wide range of backgrounds and ages, and we want every Aldi employee to have a rewarding career. We have a reputation for being extremely competitive with our customer offering and equally the financial and benefits packages we offer our team are extremely competitive.
'Our average hourly rates are some 30% above typical pay in the retail industry.”
Aldi introduced the ‘Living Wage’ on February 1 this year for all entry-level positions, with Store Assistant employees able to earn up to €13.80 per hour.
Successful Store Manager candidates will avail of a starting annual salary of €55,000, rising to €80,000 over four years for a five day 45-hour week.
They will also receive five weeks’ paid holidays, private health insurance upon commencement, and membership of a company pension scheme after three years.
The company said its Assistant Store Manager, Store Assistant and Stock Assistant roles offer 'similarly strong packages, along with the opportunity for progression.'
