Special 1916 supplement in this week's Westmeath Independent
As the actual centenary of the 1916 Rising approaches, this week's Westmeath Independent will include a special 32- page supplement on the rebellion in the county. It is a contribution of both the Westmeath Independent and the Westmeath Examiner to the 1916 Commemorations, supported by Westmeath County Council and Ireland 1916.

The publication looks back at all sides of the conflict 100 years ago, examining not only the rebel, but those opposed to him (or her) and those caught in between.
The following are just some of the pieces you will be excited to see as part of the supplement:
- Athlone and the Rising
- Laurence Ginnell: ‘The murder of my friends’
- Westmeath GAA in 1916
The publication will also include a list of the remaining 1916 commemorative events in Westmeath. The supplement will be in this Wednesday’s Westmeath Independent, dated Saturday 23rd April.
