St Peter's Junior Cup game moved to Tullamore

St Peter's FAI Junior Cup semi-final has been switched out of Athlone after the original venue Dubarry Park was deemed unplayable.

Buccaneers' main pitch hosted a number of matches last weekend and the FAI Junior Council ruled it was unplayable.

Leah Victoria Park in Tullamore, the home of Tullamore Town FC, will now host the semi final against Pike Rovers on Saturday evening at 7.30pm.

St Peter's, following the loss of Dubarry Park this week, had attempted to secure Athlone Town's stadium.

However, Athlone Town's first team are at home on Friday night against Waterford Utd and on Monday night versus Shelbourne in a refixed league game due to floodlight failure.

It's understood Athlone Town wanted to wait until later in this week for a weather update before making a judgement on how many games the stadium first-team pitch could host this weekend.

Athlone Town had initially offered the stadium to St Peter's prior to the latter's decision to host the game in Dubarry Park.

An underage game due in the Athlone Town FC stadium over the weekend has been moved to AIT.

An Athlone Town official told the Westmeath Independent the club would issue a statement on the matter.

Tullamore Town, in a Facebook post, said: “We've been given the honour of hosting the FAI Junior Cup Semi Final between St Peter's FC and Pike Rovers of Limerick this Saturday night at 7.30pm. Thanks to St Peter's for considering us and it should be a great occasion. Please make sure you come out and support the lads Saturday night as it's not often you'll get an All Ireland semi final locally!”
