Athlone at the heart of it
Westmeath County Council has commissioned a series of videos to showcase County Westmeath as a great place to live, work, visit and do business.
Featuring familiar faces and places, the focus is on the quality of the county’s schools and education, wildlife, Westmeath’s lakelands, and its overall quality of life.
Athlone Castle, the Luan Gallery, the Hill of Uisneach, Fore, and Belvedere House and Gardens all feature, as do interviews with prominent business people such as Ray Byrne of the Wineport Lodge, Traoloch Collins of Ericsson, Wayne Byrne of OxyMen, Philip Reynolds, C&D Foods, Feargall O’Donnell of the Fatted Calf, and Helen Connelely of Celtic Roots Studio.
“The creativity is here, the young people are here, the education, the infrastructure are all here. There’s no reason why the midlands can’t be a leading player in Europe and indeed globally,” said Feargal O’Rourke of PWC Ireland.
Two separate videos are dedicated to Westmeath’s two major towns, Athlone – At the heart of it; and the county town of Mullingar – Your business destination.<>
Each Video has a separate theme with a connecting tag line of “#wearewestmeath”
The themes are:
Westmeath – The place to start your new business
Westmeath – We are growing and exporting
Westmeath - An international hub for your business
Westmeath – Infrastructure and attitude to growth
Westmeath – We are community we are welcoming
The videos are freely available to any individual, business, organisation or group to download and use to promote both the county and their own organisation.
An additional video “Westmeath – We are returning “, was funded by Connect Ireland through the Diaspora Engagement Fund. Connect Ireland is an innovative way to create new jobs in Ireland by harnessing the power of the global Diaspora - at home and abroad.
