Thieves have their eyes on bikes locally

Bicycles were the main targets in a spate of break-ins in Monksland recently.

Four houses and sheds in the Sli an Choiste estate were hit by burglars between Wednesday night last and Thursday morning last when up to five bicycles were stolen, one of which was later recovered at another address in Monksland a few days afterwards.

One man has been charged in relation to handling stolen property and he will appear before the local court in relation to that incident next month.
Gardai are still bidding to trace the other bikes taken and would welcome any assistance from the public in relation to the burglaries.

They reminded people to conscious of the security of items stored in sheds at the rear of their homes and to ensure that the bicycle’s unique number is recorded or photographed to make identification easier.
