Sentencing of Jimmy Devaney adjourned for two weeks
The sentencing of Jimmy Devaney for the manslaughter of Marie Greene in Athlone in 2011 has been adjourned to Monday, November 16, next.
At a hearing in the Central Criminal Court this morning, an emotional victim impact statement was read out to the court on behalf of Ms Greene’s family, who said their own sentence of “grief and heartache” began on the night of her death.
A letter of apology from Mr Devaney was also read out along with letters testifying to the 67-year-old’s character.
Ms Justice Margaret Heneghan said she needed time to consider the submissions made today, and she adjourned the sentencing for two weeks.
