Athlone Triathlon Clubs new base is up and running
Athlone Triathlon Club has opened a brand new base in Coosan Point.
Located close to the current RNLI headquarters, the new facility will be used primarily for club meetings and equipment storage.
Speaking to the Westmeath Independent this week, Chairperson of Athlone Triathlon Club Adrian Lennon said the club is growing every year and given that a lot of training and events like the annual club aquathon take place in Coosan Point, it’s appropriate that their new base is situated there.
He added that the club, which currently boasts over 100 members, has invested considerable funds in equipment in recent times, including safety kayaks for swim training, and they were previously relying on other members’ garages or houses to store the club gear.
“It’s just good now to have a base, a small club house and storage,” Mr Lennon enthused, saying that the development has come about via an agreement with the local authority.
“I want to thank Westmeath County Council and Pat Nally, also to Cllr Kevin 'Boxer’ Moran for all their help throughout,” concluded Mr Lennon.
