Center parcs in discussions with local authority about road network

Center Parcs is currently in discussions with the local authority to relation to the road network close to the proposed site of their €200 million holiday village in Newcastle Wood, the CEO has confirmed.

An extensive traffic survey has been undertaken by the leading UK holiday firm ahead of the submission of the formal planning application at the end of October.

Speaking from the Woburn Forest site in Bedfordshire, just 40 minutes from London recently, where local representatives and the local media were given a tour of facilities, Martin Dalby, CEO of Center Parcs said the survey is saying that access roads around the holiday park in Ballymahon are actually “capable of coping with the volume of traffic”.

There has been concern locally about the quality of the Mullingar to Ballymahon stretch and the N55 Ballymahon road in terms of their ability to cope with much larger volumes of traffic should the development go ahead, with many maintaining upgrades will be necessary.

“You will know that it is only twice a week on a Monday and a Friday that our guests come and start their holiday so it is a bit early to say to be honest with you (in relation to the road network). But obviously Center Parcs will fully cooperate with any requirements to make sure that the network of roads can cope with the extra traffic,” he concluded.
