Why mcstay should be the next roscommon manager
Shane Curran on why Roscommon should appoint the former St Brigid's manager to take charge of the county team:
I welcome the news that St Brigid’s have nominated Kevin McStay for the position of Roscommon senior football manager.
The nomination from St Brigid’s would have come with Kevin’s seal of approval. Most people know my stance on this matter. I think the appointment of Kevin would be a huge step in the right direction for Roscommon football.
Kevin is a proven winner, a great organiser and has a huge level of football knowledge. I believe Fergal O’Donnell would be part of the set-up and Liam McHale, who is a great coach and knows club football in Roscommon well.
I was talking to Cathal Cregg after the Pearses v Western Gaels game last weekend and I believe the players want a manager in place as soon as possible so they can get ready for Division 1 football next year. I don’t think they want a protracted process.
I think the appointment of Kevin would lead to a huge goodwill factor from supporters and the footballing fraternity in the county. And I believe his appointment would be greeted with a lot of positivity from business people.
