Eircom landline and mobile phone services hit by outage

Eircom landline and mobile phone services across the country are currently being affected by a major outage.

In a statement, the company said: 'To our customers, We have been advised of a major issue affecting mobile and landline services within out network.

'Customers with ISDN lines seem to be effected (sic) whereby they cannot make calls.

'Calls from eMobile or Meteor network to 1890 260 260, Broadband Tech Support team or to 1800 numbers will receive a message saying we cannot connect your call.'

The company said it was 'working to resolve this issue as soon as we can' and added that the issue had also affected calls into its customer care centres.

The office of the Westmeath Independent in Athlone is one the many affected by the disruption to landline phone services this morning.
