Athlone musical society to stage rock of ages

Athlone Musical Society has just announced its 2016 production – the explosive musical comedy Rock of Ages.

AMS was delighted to secure the rights to this 'mix-tape’ style musical, which were just made available for amateur societies this year.  
Rock of Ages is the ultimate 80s rock musical, a rip-roaring, hilarious story of hedonism, dreams, love and of course rock! Five times nominated for the prestigious Tony Awards in the US (including 'Best Musical’), Rock of Ages is a celebration of Los Angeles rock culture, with a great story to boot.

Set in 1987, a small town girl meets a big city rocker in LA’s most famous rock club and they fall in love to some of the greatest songs of the decade – all classic tracks which will have Athlone and the Midlands rockin’ for more.

Rock of Ages is a worldwide phenomenon with smash hit productions in Australia, London, South Korea and still rockin’ on Broadway, featuring 28 classic rock tunes including 'Don’t Stop Believin’, 'We Built This City’, 'The Final Countdown’, 'Wanted Dead or Alive’, 'Here I Go Again’, 'Harden My Heart’, 'Can’t Fight this Feeling’, 'Renegade’ and 'I Want To Know What Love Is’.

So popular has it been worldwide the show has been made into a star-studded movie starring Tom Cruise, Russell Brand, Alec Baldwin and Catherine Zeta Jones.

Rockin’ their way back to Athlone for a second year, to MD and choreograph, are Ger Madden and Nicole McDonald.
Alfie Kilduff will also be returning as director for this hilarious, feel good love story.

Auditions will take place in October and Athlone MS is on the lookout for new members who wanna rock!
