International acclaim for athlone photographer

An Athlone photographer won first prize at the Vienna Photobook Festival in Austria recently.

Mark Duffy's new photobook 'Vote No. 1’ will be published this autumn by Anzenberger edition and will be launched this November at the Paris Photo Fair.

'Vote No. 1’ documents and examines the culture of election advertising in Ireland. The series focuses on the accidental disfigurements candidates’ faces suffer - an unintended consequence of their posters’ erection.

Mark’s series 'Vote No. 1’ has been chosen to participate two major international photography festivals this year. It is currently being exhibited at the Alt1000 photography festival in Rossiniere in Switzerland until September, then Kaunas festival in Lithuania.

Mark’s photobook was also shortlisted for the Lecontre de la photographie award at Arles in France this month.
