Funeral details announced for tragic athlone couple

Funeral details for the Athlone couple who died in the Tunisian terrorist attack at the weekend have been released.

Larry (Lonnie) and Martina Hayes (née Kelly) of Westlodge, Athlone were among thirty eight victims of a gun attack linked to ISIS, along with Meath nurse Lorna Carty, at a holiday resort in Sousse last Friday.

Their remains will lie in repose at Flynn’s Funeral Home, The Strand from this Thursday evening at 2pm, with removal at 7.40pm to Church of S.S. Peter & Paul’s, Athlone arriving at 8pm.

Requiem Mass for the couple takes place on Friday at 11am with burial afterwards in Coosan Cemetery.

Larry and Martina Hayes are sadly missed by their heartbroken daughter Sinead, Lonnie’s brothers Seamus and Michael, sisters Ann and Della, and Martina’s brothers John Joe, Tommy and Billy and her sisters Evelyn, Ita, Della, Patricia, Pauline, Maureen and Veronica, his uncles Andy and Steve, their brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, colleagues, neighbours, relatives and many friends.
