Breast cancer charity initiative urges local farmers to think pink
Farmers across Westmeath are being encouraged to ‘Think Pink’ and support a breast cancer charity by using a specially manufactured pink netwrap in their fields this summer.
Glanbia have teamed up with Tama UAT, a crop packaging manufacturer, to support breast cancer research, education and awareness in rural communities.
The companies are supplying a limited edition pink and black netwrap, with a €4 donation from the sale of every Tama UAT Net Edge to Edge netwrap sold this summer going to Breast Cancer Ireland.
The specially manufactured pink netwrap is available in the Glanbia Agribusiness and CountryLife branch located in Shandonagh, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.
Commenting on the initiative, CEO of Breast Cancer Ireland Aisling Hurley, said: “We are delighted to partner with Glanbia Agribusiness and Tama UAT and we hope this campaign will raise awareness of breast cancer in farming communities.”
A limited quantity of Tama UAT Net Edge to Edge 4500m netwrap, which holds together round bales of hay, silage and straw has been specially manufactured by TAMA UAT in pink for this campaign.
Michael Murphy, Sales Manager with Tama UAT, said: “Women have integral roles in the farming and contracting business. This silage season we want to encourage as many farmers as possible to ‘support pink’ and highlight the importance of breast cancer research and detection.”
James Byrne, Marketing Manager at Glanbia Agribusiness, stated: “We are delighted to be supporting breast cancer research and raising money for such a good cause. Our goal is to sell 10,000 kilometres of pink netwrap this season. The distinctive colour is sure to be noticed and along with providing a visual reminder, a percentage from all sales will go directly to funding the work of Breast Cancer Ireland.”
