Country music teen sensation for the well
An 18-year-old who has burst onto the country music scene will make his first Westmeath appearance tonight (Wednesday).
Shane Owens who was born in England but whose parents hail from Cavan can scarcely believe the fervour and interest that both he and his new band have created since taking to the road at the beginning of the month.
And as he prepares for his first Westmeath date in The Well, Moate, tonight, Shane is keeping his fingers crossed that the enthusiasm and excitement he has experienced to date will be maintained.
His debut single 'Walking on the waves’ is already being hailed as one of the best songs released by an Irish country band in recent times while his engaging personality means that he is already building up an imposing fan base.
Yet while he is certainly creating a stir, Shane is keeping his feet firmly planted on the ground.
“While I am delighted with the initial reaction, I have an awful long way to go. I am fortunate in that I have very good musicians in my band all of whom are firmly grounded so I don’t think there is any danger that we will lose the run of ourselves,” smiles the modest Shane.
With his programme specially tailored for the country dancing scene and backed up by a spectacular stage production, Shane certainly looks capable of carving out a significant niche for himself in the entertainment arena.
Doors open at The Well, Moate, at 8pm, show starts at 9.30pm.
Special guests on the night include Robert Mizzell, Gerry Guthrie, Ray Lynam, Tom Allen and The Shane Owens Band.
