House searches underway in garda crackdown on traveller feuding
A total of 13 houses in the towns of Athlone, Moate and Mullingar are being searched this morning as part of a Garda crackdown on feuding Traveller gangs.
The operation, which is being led by Athlone Garda Station, got underway at 7am this morning (Monday).
Sergeant Michelle Baker of Athlone Garda Station said the operation was designed to target criminal activity involving feuding Traveller gangs.
She said the 13 homes in Westmeath were being searched on foot of warrants issued by the courts.
The operation is ongoing.
