Ait graduate design show opens

The graduate design show at Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT) will officially open today (Friday). The opening will also be broadcast live via the institute’s Periscope channel from 6.30pm.

The show features the work of final year students on AIT’s degrees in design (communication), visual communications and digital media. It is open to the public from Monday, May 25 until Friday, May 29.

Oliver Hegarty, head of the department of humanities, said: “The graduate show is a fantastic opportunity for the wider community to experience the artistic vision of our design students. There’s a startling breadth of media, perspectives and ideas to be experienced at this year’s show.”

The Periscope broadcast represents the first time that AIT will showcase an event using the live-streaming app, which was launched by Twitter in March.
