Paul murphy and others to address athlone meeting on water charges
Anti austerity alliance TDs Paul Murphy and Ruth Coppinger, and Garda Whistleblower John Wilson, will be in Athlone tomorrow (Tuesday) evening to address a public meeting in opposition to water charges.
Athlone Says No to Water Charges, in conjunction with the national non-payment network, is hosting the meeting which is taking place in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel at 7.30pm.
Paul Murphy and Ruth Coppinger are among the country's most prominent anti-austerity politicians.
John Wilson, the Garda whistle blower who is planning to run as an Independent in the next general election, was arrested last week while protesting against the installation of water meters at an estate in Cavan town.
He was later released without charge, and it's understood that a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
All are welcome to attend the meeting tomorrow evening.
