Desert runner dave obrien to give talk at athlone it
The only Irish person ever to complete the 'four deserts' series of 250 km races across desert conditions in various parts of the world will give a talk in Athlone IT this evening (Wednesday).
Dave O’Brien, the 'Ultra Runner’, motivational speaker, and star of the film 'Desert Runners’, will address the AIT Athletics Club event in Room B1030 (Business section) at 8pm.
Mr O’Brien has run over 500 races, appeared on two TV survival shows, and climbed the seven highest peaks in Ireland in 23 hours 28 minutes; a record that stands to this day.
He is the oldest man on the planet, at 56, to complete all four of the 250 kilometre desert races inside the same year, achieving the remarkable feat in just 38 weeks.
An ambassador for a fruit and vegetable juice company, he will speak in Athlone about why nutrition is the cornerstone to good health and how he endured the toughest races on the planet.
