FRIDAY, APRIL 10

THE FUREYS

DRAMA
Kiltoom Drama Group present the rural drama ‘Professor Tim’  by George Shiels continues tonight, Friday, April 10, and runs until Sunday, April 12 in the Kiltoom Parish Hall. Curtain up at 8pm.

HOMETOWN
The new Louis Walsh-managed boyband ‘HomeTown’ will be performing in Athlone on Friday, April 10. The six-piece vocal group, which has already been making waves in Ireland, will be performing in the Radisson Blu Hotel.

BINGO

FIT CLUB
Castledaly Fit Club continues Tuesdays and Fridays 7pm at the GAA Grounds so take advantage of the stretch in the evenings and join in the fun.

COOSAN CHOIR
Coosan Youth Choir is looking for new members from 4th class upwards. Practice on Fridays at 7.45pm in Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. Youth choir sings at the 10.30am Mass in Our Lady Queen of Peace. For more information contact 086 2463181

ATHLONE SCHOOLS YOUTH ORCHESTRA

SUNDAY, APRIL 12

WEDDING OPEN DAY
Wedding Open Day in the Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore today from 12pm to 5pm. CARMELITE AUCTION

MONDAY, APRIL 13
PILATES
Pilates (STOTT) takes place at the studio in Irishtown on Mondays. Beginners and intermediate women’s pilates at 6.30pm, pregnancy pilates at 7.30pm. Intermediate pilates on Tuesday at 6pm in the studio. Contact 086 440 3110 for more information or to book a place.

TUESDAY, APRIL 14

MOORE HISTORICAL GROUP
The historical group meets on Tuesday nights in Moore Community Hall and wish to collect old photographs of local interest.

LINE DANCING
Line dancing classes take place in Athlone GAA Club, Ballymahon Road, every Tuesday. Beginners 7-8pm. Admission €8. For more information contact 086 1099388.

TODDLER GROUP
Tang Toddler Group meets every Tuesday morning in Tang Community Centre from 10.30am to 12.30pm. This is a great way to meet other people with babies and young children in the area.
Adults can chat and share their experiences while children play in a safe environment. Parents, guardians, grandparents, and minders all welcome.

FIGHT NIGHT
Wolfpack Kickboxing Athlone will be hosting a Kickboxing and K-1 fight night on Saturday, April 18 next in the Radisson Blu hotel. This is the 5th annual fight night and as usual an entertaining night of fast paced top quality fights will be in store. Doors open 5.30pm, first fight 6pm. Tickets cost €15, on the door €20. Children under 10 years €10 on the door!

LOUGH REE PIKE FESTIVAL

REAL MCCOY
It’s the Real McCoy is back in the Dean Crowe Theatre this Friday, April 24. The hilarious comedy is set to give audiences a heart-warming two hours of rural comedy like never before!

ATHLONE 5K/10K RUN
The Athlone 5K/10K Run, sponsored by Kennedy’s Spar Express in Monksland will take place on Sunday, April 26 next in Clonown, Athlone. 10K run begins at 2.30pm 5K Run at 2pm. Registration begins on the day at 12.30pm. Register online at http://registration.precisiontiming.net

ALL-IRELAND DRAMA FESTIVAL
The All-Ireland Drama Festival is pencilled in to run from April 30 to May 8 nightly at 8pm. Tickets go on sale at theatre box office from Thursday, April 9.

DARKNESS INTO LIGHT
The annual ‘Darkness into Light’ 5k walk/run will take place at 4.15am on Saturday morning, May 9. It takes place from the Athlone Town FC stadium and all proceeds raised will go to support the suicide and self-harm charity Pieta House.  

HOCKEY 5-A-SIDE
Athlone Hockey Club are hosting an open Ladies, Mens and Mixed 5 a-side competition on May 2 and 3 next starting at 9am Saturday morning with finals starting at 10am on the Sunday. Any level can enter. The competitions will be run in group stages with five teams to each group on the Saturday with the winners of the groups progressing to semi-finals and finals stage on the Sunday.
Entry Fee of €175 for squad of 7 also covers the entry to the BBQ and music on Saturday night in the Bounty. For the mixed competition, if you need numbers or for further information call Linda on 087 2367844.

ST MEL’S RE-DEDICATION
The ceremony of the re-dedication of the Cathedral of St Mel will take place in the Cathedral in Longford town on Sunday, May 17, at 3pm. Re-dedication of a Church or Cathedral is necessary when renovations or repairs have been carried out on the building.
