Countdown continues to sports awards bash on friday night
Tickets are still on sale for the Westmeath Independent Sports Awards function which is coming up this Friday night in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel (7.30pm).
Members of the general public are welcome to attend the sports awards and tickets are on sale at the Westmeath Independent offices on Sean Costello Street, Athlone. For ticket enquiries or to reserve tickets, please contact 090 6434300.
Tickets are priced at €45 but a special offer is in place whereby people receive two free tickets when they purchase four tickets.
The 12 monthly winners will be presented with their awards at the gala function on Friday night, February 20. An overall winner will be chosen from the 12 monthly winners, while readers have the opportunity to cast their vote for the Readers’ Choice Award (see below for details on how to vote).
At the moment, the battle for the Readers’ Choice Award is very tight, with only a handful of votes between the top three.
Long-serving Roscommon & District Football League official Vincent Brooks has already been chosen as the Hall of Fame winner, and he will also be presented with his award on the night.
Interestingly, two of the previous overall winners – Robbie Henshaw (2013) and Dessie Dolan (2011) – are among the winners again this year and both will be in attendance on the night.
There are question and answer profiles of all the monthly award winners in this week’s Westmeath Independent which is on sale now.
Respected RTE broadcaster Robbie Irwin will act as master of ceremonies for the event.
The Westmeath Independent Sports Awards are sponsored by the Shamrock Lodge Hotel.
