Old friends to do battle on famous ground

ATHLONE Town will come up against old friends today (Sunday) when they play against Bohemians in their latest pre-season fixture at Dalymount Park.

Former Athlone boss Keith Long is now in charge of Bohemians and brought four players from Athlone’s 2014 squad with him to Dalyer’.

Athlone, now managed by Eddie Wallace, who was Long’s assistant last season, have shown up well in pre-season so far, beating Cork City and drawing against Shamrock Rovers, before a 4-3 defeat to Longford Town last Tuesday night. The match will also be a warm-up for the side’s upcoming League Cup clash. Kick-off at Dalymount Park today is scheduled for 2pm.
