Snowice warning in place for westmeath and roscommon
We could be in for some wintry showers tonight and tomorrow, as Met Eireann has issued a 'status yellow' weather alert indicating snow and ice are likely in Westmeath, Roscommon and elsewhere.
The snowfall could lead to accumulations of up to 3cm in some places, according to the national meteorological service.
Motorists are being urged to take extra care as a sharp ground frost and icy stretches will develop overnight and into tomorrow (Tuesday).
Some snow flurries are expected in Leinster overnight, with more frequent wintry showers developing across the western half of the country as the night goes on.
Snow showers are also expected tomorrow and tomorrow night.
It will be bitterly cold on Tuesday, with temperatures not expected to rise above four degrees celsius.
