Wallace and collins to attend important soccer club public meeting
ATHLONE Town FC will be proposing to take the club in a new direction when they hold a General Meeting in the Sheraton Hotel, Athlone tonight (Thursday, 8pm).
The meeting will be open to anyone interested in the fortunes of Athlone Town FC and soccer in the town and its surrounding areas.
A source close to the club told the Westmeath Independent that soccer club chairman John Hayden and the committee are keen to change the way the club operates. It’s believed that at the meeting they plan to discuss the possibility of running the club in a manner not dissimilar to the likes of Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers - with club members - who pay annual membership fees - given greater access to club affairs and, in some cases, the decision-making processes in the club.
Athlone Town manager Eddie Wallace will be in attendance, as will Aidan Collins, the club captain for the past two seasons who was recently appointed player/assistant manager to Wallace.
